Letters Home from the Rodeo

My dearest Annabelle,

It’s been only a few short weeks since I left home to chase my dreams of joining the rodeo, and riding bucking broncos. I found out quickly you can just call them horses, but I’ve earned myself a new nickname in the process—Bucky. Everyone has been so nice and supportive on my first day as I’m learning all the finer points of the rodeo. The cowboys all went out for drinks after the event, and they invited me along! Even the clowns came out to show their support for the new guy. Although it is in a clown’s nature to want to impress. Looking forward to day two, hope I’m not too hungover to ride.

Yours,

Bucky :)

Annabelle,

I wasn’t anticipating writing you again so soon, but my second day did not go well. I hadn’t learned all the finer points of rodeos yet and, yes, I was a little hungover. The guys were not nice about it. I couldn’t remember how many seconds I needed to stay on the horse and they kept yelling at me that this wasn’t my first rodeo and I should know better. All I could say is that it’s only my second rodeo, but apparently there are high expectations here. The clowns were fine.

Yours,

Daniel
